Leading by just two points (54-52) heading into the fourth quarter, the Lakewood St.Edward's Eagles exploded in the 4th stanza for a 78-63 triumph over visiting Mentor.

The scored was knotted at 18 after one period and Mentor took a 38-37 lead into the lockeroom, but Ed's was able to take control at the end of three quarters and never looked back.

With the win, Ed's improved to (13-3) on the year and Mentor dropped to (13-2).

Junior Cole Krizancic scored 22 points to lead Mentor along with Cameron Aloisio adding a career-high 22 as well. Senior Jaron Crowe returned from a knee injury after missing last night's game to Shaker Heights and contributed with 12.

Notes:

We said this would be a statement weekend in Northeast Ohio and it was. Ed's won a big pair over Garfield Heights and the Cardinals, while Mentor dropped two.
