Northeast Ohio: Top Performances

Brunswick senior Tyler Ferrell scored 23 points in his team's 70-36 rout of Valley Forge in doing so the Wheeling Jesuit signee eclipsed the 1,000-point mark for his career.

Canton Timken's Jehvon Clarke scored 30 points as the Trojans held on for a PAC-7 victory, 73-62 in overtime besting Akron Manchester. Junior Rakim Reed added 21 points and nine rebounds for the Trojans (15-3).

Shaker Heights (6-7) got 20 points and seven caroms from junior Otis Barrow along with sophomore point guard Terry Rozier adding 18 points and six assists, and junior guard Nick Townes tossing in 16 points in the upset win over previously unbeaten Mentor (76-69).

6-foot-9 senior Bryan Theriot scored 21 points, grabbed 20 rebounds, and swatted away four shots in Midpark's (12-1) 60-49 win over Avon Lake.

Akron Buchtel (14-0) erupted for 111 points in its 111-53 thumping of Akron North. The Griffins placed four players in double figures including freshman Elijah Bell with 13 counters.

It was a big night for Massillon Jackson (13-2) as they defeated Austintown-Fitch to win the regular season Federal League crown. In addition, head coach Mike Fuline won his 100th game as Jackson's head boss and Wheeling Jesuit signee Brad Dupont dished out a school record-tying 13 assists including 10 points and seven rebounds. Kent State signee Mark Henniger led the way with 22 points and Akron signee Josh Egner chipped in with 13.

Ryan Burfield drained 8-of-14 three-point shots and tallied 34 points for the game to help East Canton remain unbeaten (15-0) and stake a claim for at least a share of the Portage Trail Conference title. The Hornets routed Mogadore 84-46 who had previously 5-of-7.

North Canton Hoover (12-2) senior Cory Veldhuizen scored 25 points and added 12 rebounds in the Vikings' 71-60 win over Canton Glen Oak on Friday in front of 2,000 fans. He shot 10-of-16 from the floor and snared seven offensive rebounds. His father (Evan) is a math teacher at Glen Oak. Storm Sanders led the Eagles with 26 points.
